Family Favorite Chocolate Pudding

I remember this  as being my brother Brian’s favorite dessert, and now my husband & son love it too . the only difference is that now i make it with fresh ingredients where as growing up we only used the chocolate pudding powder mix in the package. It was good , no one complained, but this is better ! This is something that you can find in our refrigerator quite often. It satisfies a chocolate fix or sweet tooth !

There are only 155 calories per serving where as a true French chocolate cream has 488 per portion because of the heavy cream and eggs.So indulge! K

12 /100 gr servings

 Ingredients

1 litre milk

3 tbsp cornstarch ( maizena)

50 gr sugar to taste

200 gr melted dark 64-70% chocolate of good quality; Valrhona

Pour the milk into a large sauce pan and add the cornstarch while it is cold to avoid lumps.Heat the milk to bring to a boil while continually stirring with a whisk. When the milk is very hot, add the chocolate and sugar and bring the mixture to a boil. Turn down the heat and simmer 2 minutes to thicken, keep stirring. Remove the pan from the heat and pour into another bowl that has a spout that you will need to pour the custard into 12  small glass pots or cups. Cover to avoid having a skin develop on the surface of the custard. Chill for a least 2 hours. Served topped with fresh whipped cream  and chocolate shavings.Keeps 7 days.Does not freeze well. This quick dessert is  low in calories , 155 per serving, since there is no cream or egg yolks! Enjoy K
